After spending week contemplating whether to go and see Lamb live or not, I can honestly say that I made the right decision going last night. Great performance from start till the very end. And speaking about the end - I have a feeling that during Trans Fatty Acid small bit of ceiling plaster landed in my hair. It was just that bombastic. Plus they must have the most baddass bassist ever - Jon Thorne (if im not mistaken).

Honestly I’ve known Lamb for the best part of last ten years (mostly thanks to the obvious hits like Gabriel and Gorecki), but never thought they could be so great live.

Oh and also - supporting acts. While The Ramona Flowers were actually quite great (as you would expect from a band with name like that), Jay Leighton felt bit out of place compared to the following rocking performances. As I defined it in my head - hugging music. Considering my other half was home sick with bronchitis that left me hugging rum and coke. But anyways.

Will upload some videos and pics bit latter.

Bon Iver - Perth

Fuck yeah! Bon Iver’s self-titled LP just leaked full month early. And its 40 minutes of glorious eargasm.

Carter Burwell - One Against Four

True Grit (Soundtrack from the Motion Picture)

Well, if True Grit wasn’t amazing! Sincere, brave, funny and somewhat old fashioned (in a good sense). Tho I would have loved to understand half what Jeff Bridges said. And speaking of Jeff Bridges - hes a legend!

Alexandre Desplat - Tree of Life

Presumably Alexandre Desplat’s score to the Tree of Life trailer. Goosebumps!

End of the year is coming closer and closer with every day, and so with another day, another top. This time albums. In no particular order.

  • Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

By no means I’m a huge Hip-Hop fan, but the enormous hype surrounding leadup to “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” coming out just go to me. I still haven’t really decided whether Kanye is trolling in real life or he actually is a huge douche, but if this isn’t just huge, I don’t know. Powerfull beats, perfect sampling (including Mike Oldfied’s “In High Places” straight off the bat)… Together it just proves that Kanye’s producer skills are through the roof. Also, he manages to be rather funny and generally above average when it comes to lyrics. His wins are definitely not low.

  • Katy Perry - Teenage Dream

While we’re on this poppy note, I’ll throw in Katy’s latest attempt as well. It just summs up everything about good old classic pop-music. Catchy and all that. Also Katy herself is just something of a true eye candy to marvel at :3

  • Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

Need I say more after “Funeral” and “Neon Bible”? Also lets remember the great gig from Madison Square Garden that was broadcast live on youtube. Well worth staying up till wee hours.

  • Royksopp - Senior

Tho Junior was step in another direction, this, Senior, is them being great as always. Perfect to accompany dark winter evenings and float away <3

  • Daft Punk - TRON Legacy

While I see some being disappointed that this isn’t real Daft Punk studio album per se, this is definitely one of the most impressive and epic soundtracks this year along with Trent Reznor’s soundtrack to “The Social Network”. Nostalgic synths from 80’s paired with orchestra. It all mashes together so well, it’s astonishing. Also according to Ebert “Daft Punk’s “Tron” soundtrack is so driving the visuals sometimes almost play as *its* accompaniment”

  • Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz

Rough and electronic landscapes in a step away from previous warm and fuzzy stuff from Sufjan. To my ears it has payed of immensely. On a bit of a side note - if anyone says a word about auto-tuned part in Impossible Soul… Well, fuck you. I wont elaborate why.

Also some other great and often played albums this year include LCD Soundsystem’s “This Is Happening”, The National’s “High Violet” and Robyn’s “Body Talk”.

Now that Dexter ended today, next up probably TV top something of the year.
